What initially attracted me to Silver was the premise. Celtic mythology? Oh yes, please. Often when dealing with mythology as the story background in most novels nowadays, it’s Greek. So it was really refreshing to see a change of pace and something that’s not used so much. I adored that. I adored it even more being that I come from an Irish family and my ancestors are Irish. Haha. I love all things Celtic…heck, I even read a bunch of non-fiction books for fun on the mythology, legends, etc. :P Anyways, I really liked this book. I may have sped read a bit. It's not going to be for everyone though. I can tell that by reading. It will attract a great audience, but there are parts that will not appeal to others. This was so much more than just the mythology (which sadly I didn't find enough of there). There was a lot of mystery and a forbidden romance that stole my heart and fascinated me. It has a different twist. I really loved the development of everything. Details and descriptions were crafted well in the writing and beautiful. This book just keeps you turning the pages as everything falls into place for the characters. I liked Brianna out of everyone. She was not your typical whiney MC that is seen after she finds out what she is. She genuinely doesn't know what to make of it. And she only wants to be normal. Even from the start of the book, things don't seem quite right for her in life, and the author immediately sets up the reader to sympathize with her. I wasn't particularly a fan of the way Blake treated her often though. I understood it had to do with the bracelet, yes, but he was a bit of a jerk. *shrug* For me, this book wasn't really about me liking the male characters (like I normally do with romance books), but more about the mythology and mystery. One of the best things about reading this is that it will keep you guessing throughout the pages and leave you in suspense. I loved that. Some people like straight-forward reading or something that gives you all the answers by the end. This won't give you that. But I loved how the story went through like this. You don't know who to trust. It left me wanting more. There's a lot of twists and turns, mystery and suspense, beauty and romance. Definitely don't want to miss this one. I can't wait to read more from Ms. Vance in the sequel. :)3.5 stars
